Challenge Accepted

A Screwed Up Texas friend extended a Challenge, check out her blog entry, titled Give Away!

Dear Tex,

Well, you could look like a pioneer. OR you could look like a fashionable and sophisticated woman who wears her clothing well. Let's pick one! Each of these will involve the linen top in the picture, since you've cleaned it so nicely and inexpensively! At this point in the game you're a little bit of the first two looks that I've mentioned, and before we begin, let me tell you that I'm only writing to help and inspire!

Regarding Pioneer dressing. There is a little of that going on in your current look... I hate to say it, but Hubby may have a point. He may be imagining your pastel linen top paired with a matching linen, floor length skirt swaying to and fro in a muted... muslin hue... Its gathers are full and the hem skims the dirt catching an array of Texas prairie souvenirs!

This ensemble provides 100% coverage. Your little linen top is buttoned up to your chin, Tex! Is that really necessary? I'll answer for you, No. Since you are not a Pioneer, if you unbutton one or two, you don't have to worry about getting kicked out the back of the Stage coach for being slutty!

Do it! Maybe you could even cuff your sleeves?!!  C'mon try the boyfriend look Tex.

Let's move on!

For a casual daytime look to work back to your sweetie linen top, go for a super dark wash jean.   A light wash denim with this color of blue on top is a mis-match of blue shades, like clashing reds.  Go for fitted in the hip, with a straight or boot leg. Cuffed would be super flattering on you and very current with the season!  Might be hot for summer, but I know the AC is kickin' in TX. Pair with pop color flats!  (Sneakers are fine too but not gym shoes, ok?  Also, I don't need to go into detail on this point, but you're going to need to remove the brown socks and brown shoes and get as far from them as possible.  Please.  Hurry!!)   Complete your day look with a matching necklace or chunky bangle bracelets.   How cute are you?

For a date night with Hubby, pair your (and now his) favorite top with a pair of straight leg black pants. The fabrication should be matte, mostly cotton so they are breathable and have some spandex so they can stretch a little! Maybe look for a pair with a tiny pintuck down the front for detail, but definitely stay away from pleats. Once it gets to be deadly hot in TX (which I know will be in about 4 seconds, I used to live there) seek a cropped pant! Anything below the knee. Depending on how courageous you are, the wider the better, maybe with a tie at the waist, and in a lightweight fabric so you don't sweat yourself to death. Color can be black, to khaki to light olive! Pair these with flats or a tiny wedge heal, if you're feeling sassy. Carry a fun handbag with this look, it does not have to match your shoes, like it did in the Pioneer days!

I hope my tips have helped, Tex!

With love and fresh fashion,

Pigeon
